The story
THE SEND exists to activate and set a generation free in their calling.
THE SEND is a movement born out of prayer and emerging from ‘The Call’. Leaders like Andy Byrd (YWAM), Brian Brennt (Circuit Riders), Daniel Kolenda (Christ For All Nations), Michael Koulianos (Jesus Image), Teo Hayashi (Dunamis Movement) and Lou Engle (The Call) worked together and thus THE SEND was born.
Leaders of THE SEND in the Netherlands are Ruben Flach and Freek van Balen. Ruben was director of Stichting Opwekking for many years until mid-2024. Freek has been national leader of Youth with a Mission Netherlands (YWAM Netherlands) since 2018.
From the first event in Orlando, it was clear: this is not an event, but a movement. A generation was ready to take action. Since then, THE SEND has filled stadiums in the US, Brazil and Norway, where tens of thousands gave their lives to Jesus and dedicated themselves to spreading the gospel.
In 2024, THE SEND went international with events in England and planned events for 2025 in New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Finland, the Philippines, Armenia and the Netherlands.
We see a generation emerging that is radically choosing Jesus. The Netherlands is known for its freedom, guts and pioneering mentality. But right now the question resonates: what is your response?
Throughout history, there are moments when God's power becomes visible in a special way. When a generation rises up in faith and takes action, it can change the course of history. We believe God wants to use this generation for a new missionary movement, born out of a deep relationship with Him.
The decision to bring THE SEND to the Netherlands came from prayer and speaking from God. The dream arose to stand up in the same spirit as Billy Graham, whose ministry began with a simple prayer of surrender.
